It started with a tantrum. (Mine) And a little bit of magic.

The story behind Wizzy Fizzies, from one mom's potty training struggle to the little moment that changed everything.

How we got here...

Hi Friend,

Like many of you, my potty training story started off pretty rocky.

So rocky, in fact, that one day my husband found me laying on our bathroom floor having a complete tantrum… but I had a good reason for it.

Our little Tripp (or T-Bone as my husband calls him) was moving up into the “big kid” room at daycare.

A no-diaper zone.

And for the last few weeks we had been attempting to get him to use the toilet.

But something wild was happening…

My adorable, squishy-faced, redheaded sweet baby had somehow transformed into a tiny screeching, fiery... three-ager.

"It was like I had just flipped a light switch that turned him to the dark side. Like a tiny Darth Vader!"

When I would just casually mention that maybe, just maybe, we could try to use the potty, it was like I had flipped a light switch that turned him to the dark side.

It was terrifying.

Okay, I’m being a little dramatic, but it felt awful. He was always upset about it and I just didn’t have the energy to battle with him.

I was basically full of dread, with a looming deadline hanging over my head.

I tried everything.

So I did a bunch of research on methods, reward systems, what bribes worked… all the things.

I let him pick out his big boy undies. He didn’t want to wear them.

Stickers? That was a hard pass.

I knew I wasn’t going to do candy or sweets, so that was off the table.

And I wasn’t into the three-day methods either. Nothing like setting myself up for disappointment.

I didn’t find anything that gave me energy or was built for the type of mom I was.

So I was at a loss. I started looking for other daycares...

Not even kidding.

Early Wizzy Fizzies magic

The little idea that changed everything.

Then, something clicked.

Fast-forward a few weeks. I had put a pause on training because we were getting ready to go to Disney World.

And while looking over all the things we could do at the Magic Kingdom, something occurred to me.

Magic.

What if I made potty training feel magical?

What if it was so fun that Tripp couldn’t resist... something he would actually want to do?

So I got to thinking and came up with a funny idea that just might work.

I created a rhyming “spell” and told him I had a magic seed. It was actually a DIY food coloring experiment that turned my fingers blue.

And there was only one missing ingredient to make the magic work.

His PEE.

It worked immediately.

He sat down on his little potty and did the thing, we said the spell, he tossed in the fizzy… and we were finally on our way.

But would the magic travel?

Of course, we did all of this three days before leaving for Disney World, which gave me a new problem.

Could we do this outside of the house? Could it work at Disney?

The answer was yes.

I got to work and we tested his new potty skills at our local mall. They had a family bathroom with one of those little toilets.

We did the same routine there: he went pee, threw in the star, watched in amazement, and waved goodbye as it flushed away.

The magic worked everywhere.

Once we got to Disney, I was paranoid about how often I should take him.

Turns out, when you go to Disney World in August, you actually WANT to visit the bathroom every hour or so because they are perfect for cooling off. They are very air conditioned.

So I took my homemade fizzies with us, and every visit was a success.

"If you had told me that I would be actively potty training at Disney World, I would have laughed in your face!"

I went from a fully resistant child to a potty trained one in less than 5 days.

It felt like a miracle.

Or like MAGIC.

Angie and family with Wizzy Fizzies

From a little idea at home to a little bit of magic for other families.

A little magic became something more.

What started as a homemade experiment for my own son became something I knew other families might need too.

A way to make potty training feel less stressful and a little more magical.

That little idea became Wizzy Fizzies — a storybook and magic stars designed to help kids understand the journey and feel proud of what they accomplished.

Because sometimes kids don’t need more pressure.

Sometimes they just need a reason to believe they can do it.

From our family to yours.

Thank you for letting us be part of such a big little milestone.

We hope Wizzy Fizzies brings a little encouragement, a little excitement, and maybe even a little magic to your potty training journey.
